MeePok Man ถือเป็นหนังร่วมสมัยเรื่องสำคัญของประเทศสิงคโปร์ และเป็นผลงานที่สร้างชื่อให้กับอีริก คูในระดับนานาชาติ โดยภาพยนตร์ได้ถูกนำไปฉายตามเทศกาลต่าง ๆ ทั่วโลกกว่า 30 แห่งในวาระครบรอบ 20 ปี ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ได้รับการบูรณะในระบบดิจิทัล 4K ภายใต้การดูแลของ Asian Film Archive และถูกนำมาฉายในเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติสิงคโปร์ ครั้งที่ 26 เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2015

The debut feature of Eric Khoo, the foremost Singaporean film director, Mee Pok Man is a love story between marginalized people. Johnny is a shy and repressed noodle salesman, while Bunny is a prostitute who aspires to lead of a better life. Bunny becomes a regular patron at Johnny noodle stall and is unaware that Johnny is secretly in love with her. A car accident brings them together, though their love story soon meets a horrible end. Mee Pok Man is regarded as a contemporary milestone of Singaporean filmmaking. The film gained Eric Khoo international recognition after it was shown at more than 30 film festivals worldwide. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the film was restored by the Asian Film Archive and presented at the 26th Singapore International Film Festival in 2015.
